STATE OF PLAY

As lockdown starts to ease and the world opens up little by little, Jessica Light would like to say a huge thank you to all our clients, customers, press, and friends who have championed and supported us during the past twelve months. You have helped keep this small business going through some tough times.

Moving forward the workshop is now functioning pretty much on a full-time basis, but due to limited access during lockdown and a very heavy workload our lead-times still remain longer than usual.

The state of play at the moment is any orders [with the exception of our online shop] that are received from the 12th April 2021 will not go into production until 24th May 2021. I know this sounds a life-time away, but as all our products are hand-made and hand-woven to order using labour intensive techniques, it is not possible and there aren't enough hours in the day to facilitate new orders until then.

Thank you for your patience at this time. Normal service will be resumed as soon as humanly possible.

LOCKDOWN III- THE FINAL FRONTIER. COVID 19 UPDATE

This is, I hope, the last update I'll have to post on Covid 19 here. The workshop will remain  open for any woven orders and any other items that can't be made off the premises. This will mean longer lead times during this lockdown of around three to four weeks. We will try as much as is possible to get your orders out asap but please have some patience if this is not the case.

Stay safe, stay well and stay positive.

LUCY BARLOW X JESSICA LIGHT

A year in the making, I can now reveal the first two designs in the very exciting passementerie collection, Lucy Barlow X Jessica Light, a result of the collaboration between Lucy Barlow, star of the interior firmament, from Barlow and Barlow, and yours truly.

Just in time for Christmas, and what gorgeous gifts they'd make, here are the tassels. 20cm in length and in two beautiful styles, an ivory cotton tassel with Swarovski pearls and a leopard dip-dyed cotton number with a hand-painted top and semi-precious Black Onyx beads, now both available from Jessica Light Shop.

Top, Pearl Tassel.
Bottom, Leopard Tassel.

TASSEL WORKSHOP AT HANDWEAVERS

During lockdown many people turned to craft as a way to pass the time and online tutorials and kits flourished from block printing to embroidery. Over the years I've taught  many workshops and have aways enjoyed teaching new skills to people. So far I haven't given any virtually and while there's an opportunity hope to continue presenting them in person.

I'm tutoring a tassel making workshop at Handweavers, 17th October 2020, 2-5pm. This will be along the lines of previous workshops except there are some differences. The studio at Handweavers is large so there is good space to social distance. There will be copious amounts of hand sanitiser and the class will be reduced in numbers to adhere to government guidelines so it will be a very safe environment.

Places are already being taken so book early if you would like to learn the basic rudiments of making key tassels and come away at least 2-3 tassels.

To book go to Handweavers.
